About Joseph

Joseph E. "Duke" Miller, is an award winning writer, producer, director who has made over fifty non-fiction films and written more than one-hundred and fifty political newspaper and magazine articles. The writer of numerous film and television scripts with more than 200 credited hours of broadcast and cable television, Miller Co-Executive Produced, the highly rated USA Network's TV Movie, "Perfect Crime," produced the TV movie, "A Memory In My Heart," for CBS and produced the TV Movie, “When Bryan Came Home,” for Hearst Entertainment and Lifetime Television. Currently, the President of Miller-Gregson Productions, Inc., Miller is actively developing television and feature film properties including Dan DeLucas’ crime caper comedy, “Jonni Dingo’s Eyeball,” and "Hot Rod Zombies."

A decorated veteran, Duke, spent nine years in the US Army including serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam from December 1969 to November 1970 when he was wounded in action. After which he spent fourteen months in the hospital recuperating from his wounds and was medically retired from the US Army in 1972.

After the military, Duke apprenticed with the world famous, Film and Television Division of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research where he learned film making, literally from the editors’ floor to the Director's chair. After earning his Masters in Radio Television and Film, from the University of Maryland, College Park, he returned to the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research where he wrote, produced and directed more than fifty educational motion pictures between 1978 and 1982. During this time, Duke also wrote, produced and directed numerous private industry industrial motion pictures and television commercials including the much heralded “The Stellar Thread,” for the American Chemical Society.

In 1982 Miller became a registered lobbyist in the American Legion's Washington headquarters. As the Assistant Director of the Legislative Division, Miller was responsible for presenting a diverse portfolio of issues to Members of Congress, writing more than 150 newsletter articles as well as writing and presenting testimony before a wide range of Congressional Committees and Sub-Committees. During his tenure with the Legion, Mr. Miller wrote a "Postal Subsidy Backgrounder" for the Legion's National Adjutant and Chaired the Legion's United Way campaign for which he received the United Way's Gold Award for Outstanding Leadership two years running.

Miller attended the University of Maryland where he earned a BS, Cum Laude, in Radio, Television and Film and an MA in Radio, Television and Film with minors in psychology. More recently, Miller obtained a Master Certificate in Six Sigma Black Belt and a Master Certificate in Applied Project Management from Villanova University.

Miller has received numerous awards for his work including, the “Honor Award” of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, the Venice Film Festival's, “Golden Lion,” a “Certificate of Merit” from the Entertainment Industry Council and the coveted “CINE Golden Eagle.”

Currently the president of Miller-Gregson Productions, Inc. a California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE), providing an assortment of services to the motion picture and television industry including; Writing, Producing, Directing as well as Film Research and Film Clearance. In addition, Miller recently served two years as the Vice President of Communications of the Project Management Institutes’ California Central Coast Chapter.
