Crafting Stories, One Unique World at a Time

Hi, I’m Jay Kliewer—a storyteller with a flair for the unexpected and a love for bold ideas. Picture Pilgrim’s Progress as a SyFy limited series (yes, really—I’m that guy) or a post-apocalyptic Wild West (Gridfall—my TV show, and it’s locked, loaded, and ready to ride). Whether it’s diving into Hawaiian family chaos (The Hawaiian), or tackling a Christmas story you’ve never seen before (it’s written, it works, and no, it’s not about Santa’s reindeer starting a union), I’m here to entertain, inspire, and sneak in a laugh when you least expect it.

As an Independent hyphenated (actor, writer, producer, and director), I’m out here creating stories that make God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (preferably with a high five). While being involved with the production of one of my scripts to life would be a dream come true, for now, I’m pouring my energy into writing the next blockbuster and convincing people these wild ideas are worth funding.

Most recently, I tackled my most ambitious project—a proof-of-concept Veteran TV pilot called Post 1776. How ambitious, you ask? Four days of filming, a 10-person ensemble cast, on-location shoots, and everyone got paid. Why? Because that’s how you do it when you’re aiming for the next MASH. And like MASH, we are ready to go with the TV show and/or an incredible feature film.

I’ve been a creative nomad since junior high, starting with acting in plays and community theater before leveling up to writing, directing, and producing shorts over the last 20 years. In 2022, I took the plunge and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to chase my creative dreams full-time. Since then, I’ve produced two shorts, a TV pilot, and developed a bunch of TV scripts and feature films. My focus? Veteran, family, and Christian themes—stories that connect, uplift, and linger.

Now that I’m on Stage 32, I’m excited to connect with fellow creatives, swap ideas, and maybe even join forces to make something unforgettable. If you’re into crafting great stories, geeking out about film production, or just want to chat over coffee (I like a white mocha), let’s connect.
