TV Show Logline

Veterans at Post 1776 fumble through the VA and each other’s lives—proving that service doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off.

SYNOPSIS:

At Post 1776, Mike Bixby’s truck breaks down, as broken as his faith in humanity, which leads him to the most “colorful” old-timer Veterans he never asked for.

Enter Post Commander Anthony "Tono" Castillo, who rallies the post’s eclectic members to help fix the truck—and, inadvertently, Mike’s outlook on life. Commander Tono enlists the aid of Steven and Felix, Vietnam vet BFFs with, an "age is just a number baby" mentality; Ken, the grumpy old man whose sarcasm stings like a thousand paper cuts; and Brock, the "once-a-Marine, always-a-Marine" who actually fixes the truck.

Inside the post—think Cheers, where everyone knows your name and your business—Mike meets the rest of the members:

  • Professor Rick: A hug-happy hippie who insists everyone needs a hug, even if they don’t want one.
  • Joan: An assisted-living owner, always looking for her next resident.
  • Maki: A retired cop who knows trouble when he sees it.

Steven officially becomes Mike’s guide to the VA benefits labyrinth, while the rest of the post gears up for the cornhole tournament.

Between cornhole tournaments (“Bags of Dad” vs. “We’re Not Corny”), kitchen cleanups, and Joan’s schemes to make the post relevant the chaos delivers laughs, but the heart of Post 1776 is the camaraderie—and the question of how to keep the post alive for younger vets.

The episode closes with a touching real-world interview with veteran Lorenzo Marquez, whose story of finding purpose and community through the Legion and his path to securing his VA benefits adds depth to the laughter.

Blending chaos, comedy, and heartfelt moments, this ComDram episode captures the essence of veteran camaraderie while tackling the challenge of bridging generational gaps in a rapidly changing world.
