I guess the financial deal would be % of income. It will be filmed in Sweden, in English.

A friend of mine is a (wannabe) fantasy fiction writer. So passionate that he has assembled a small budget to produce a pilot for a television series (or maybe internet broadcast). He is main producer, director and he has written the script himself. Frankly... I consider it fan-fiction. Quite generic and not standing out in any way. Still he has assembled a budget and a crew around him and will start shooting.
I want to save him from losing money and time.
He could be filming a much better script. I have told him there are lots of talented scriptwriters out there that would love to see their work actually produced... but he sticks to his guns (auteur delusion)
I would like to present him with a better script (idea/treatmentt), convince him to mainly focus on his strengths, which is producing. He is one of those guys that in the end gets things done.
I am myself a trained scriptwriter, but I have no passion/talent for writing these kind of things.
I am looking for a scriptwriter with an idea - a treatment - that stands out.
It is within the genre; fantasy (think Game of thrones, LOTR, Vikings). He is basing the story on a world he created himself. The budget is limited so many scenes will be outside in nature. Cast restricted. No CGI. He has lots of fantasy costumes (he is very good at styling). He has a crew getting ready for 2026. He has a few locations.
He may be able to reach this standard:
I believe, that the only way for him to catch any attention with a limited budget is to have a strong original and daring script. To REALLY stand out. With story, style/expression, genre mix... whatever. Anything but copy other stories that had a bigger budget.
Do you have something?
If I get to see something that I think "will do the job" and will fit the producer/director - I will broker a deal. I know these things demands a lot of trust - but I am at heart a scriptwriter and ready to fight for the value of a script.
I would also think a scriptwriting team would be a way forward - but first an idea.
In time, further on in the process I will be able to show samples of the available actors, locations, costume availability.
