Acting : Are you building content? by Stephen Anthony Bailey

Are you building content?

I want to open up a discussion and ask the actors of Stage 32 about content. We are all hearing about how we should be making vines, web series for youtube, having followers on instagram, twitter and facebook. We should be on periscope. Doing workshops, classes, showcases. Cutting new reels and getting new head shots. Going to all different classes to build the resume. It takes a lot to be an actor. The saying goes, "If you're not creating, you're waiting." And the way the world is today we have the power to mold the career we want to have. It doesn't have to be a crap shoot on will I get to play the action hero or the romantic lead or the cooky sidekick. I can write it, produce it and make it happen myself. If I want to be a talk show host I can start a podcast. I can be who I want to be and don't have to break the bank doing it. We know how much goes into building a career. My question is this---what are you doing to build your content and build your career? Comment below and let me know! After that go check out my blog for my musings on being a working actor. http://shotofbaileys.tumblr.com/

I posit that no one does everything well. I act, so mostly I do auditions for other peoples projects. I think if you want to put out content that is pretty casual it's simple to do. I've been in development for a new media project almost a year and I expect it to be another 6-8 months before we are ready to shoot it. When it does go out there I'm confident that it will have good production values, editing, writing and acting. That will show an engaging and strong character of mine. But there are lots of different points of view I'm interested in hearing others

I've written a short and just started attending a writer's group in my area (that I found through this site) to help workshop some of my pages with other writers, get more experienced folks feedback. Hope to shoot in next year.
