Organizing a table read!

Hello fellow creatives!

I want to wish everyone a happy new year and prosperous 2022!

I'm organizing a virtual table read, via zoom, for a feature script I collaborated on with a partner call "Switch". We want to take it for a test run, and hear how it reads before any editing or re-writes occur. We wish to have one table read session, followed by any comments and thoughts from the readers, as this can strengthen the project. Here is the information:

Genre: Drama/Comedy/Fantasy

Length of script: 120 pages

This is a non-paying assignment

Logline: Two sisters, one an ambitious housewife, the other a frustrated executive, envious of each other's lives, switch bodies during a wish, but must reverse the spell when a family tragedy strikes.

Characters with lines: 20

Lead characters (majority of lines in the script):

2 female (30's, sisters)

1 male (30's, husband)

Supporting characters (30-40% of lines in script):

8 male (14 - 40's, young adults, boyfriend, coach, co-worker, parents)

5 female (14 - 30's, young adult, friend, client)

Supporting characters(less than 30% of lines in script)

3 female (14 - 30's, friend, nurse)

1 male (20's, shopper)

The script is available in my profile, it has been copy-written, so if you are interested and can commit to the read, please let me know here in the comments and email me @mezes73@optimum.net. My partner and I will settle on a time that will try to accommodate the readers, per different zones, to host the zoom read. We wish to proceed quickly with this endeavor, so once we have made our selections for readers, we will notify you. Thank you in advance for your interest and availability to enhance the quality of our project.

Eoin O'Sullivan

Count me in GMT/BST

John Mezes

Thank you, Eoin! I appreciate that! Please contact me through my email address as well so when I have enough readers I can include you on the zoom invite.

Angela Cristantello

I'd love to, John! Emailing you :)

John Mezes

Thank you, Angela. It's slow-going, trying to get enough people to do this table read, but you and Eoin are in so far.

Karen "Kay" Ross

When are you doing the table read? I'd love to join! I typically read the narrator/action lines, but if you think there is a character I could read for, I would love that! I'll drop you an email shortly ;-)

Jill A. Hargrave

Love to participate, but no roles for the over 50s:) Good luck, John, with the table read. After I perform "Calendar Girls," I need to put together a table read for "Fields of Grace." I'll probably call on you to give me some tips on how to organize this.

John Mezes

Thank you, Corey, Kay, and Jill. This is appreciated. As of this moment, we're aiming for a 2 pm EST Sunday start for the table read. It's subject to change, of course, based on everyone's schedule. I'm working that out with my collaborative partner, as she was able to get some readers as well. Corey, send me and email as well, so that we can include you on the zoom invite.

Noel Thompson

John Mezes How did I not get a memo about this? I"m so down for this! I can read a part, or just come to listen. Let me know...

John Mezes

Thank you, Noel. That would be wonderful. My collaborative partner and I are firming up the date for the read, so I will keep you updated. She (my partner) has several people to read already, and I will be adding some of you who responded and are interested. We'll get this done!!!

Vincent Turner

I would also love to be a part of the read. I will send an email

John Mezes

Hi Vincent, we are having a zoom meeting this Sunday @2 pm CST to further assign parts for the table read on Sunday, Jan. 23rd. I have a part for you, so please contact me through my email address, mezes73@optimum.net. Thank you for your interest in becoming part of our table read. I appreciate it.

Eoin O'Sullivan

Super table read yesterday John Mezes Well done to all involved!

John Mezes

Thank you Eoin! You, and everyone else, were great! Really helpful! The read gave our script life, and a few interesting perspectives on it as well.
