Sharing Coffee & Content: What Is Your Approach To A Career In Entertainment?

This week, RB dives into two powerful themes:

Crafting powerful openings that instantly engage your audience (highlighted through a breakdown of David Fincher’s Fight Club).

Playing the long game in entertainment, and how mindset, resilience, and smart relationships are more valuable than overnight success.

I'm curious, what are your favourite opening scenes? I can think of many but one that is on my mind right now is La La Land – the Freeway dance scene.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Alexandra Stevens. Hope you're having a great weekend! The Matrix has one of my favorite opening scenes. I was blown away by it when I first watched the movie. It was so different than anything I had ever seen. And I can say that about the whole movie.

Hi Maurice Vaughan Yes I think Matrix is a firm favourite for many! I need to re-watch it sometime as I think i watched one time when distracted and never fully got it.

It's been a long time since I've watched The Matrix, Alexandra Stevens, and I still need to see the latest one. Another one of my favorite opening scenes is in The Truman Show.

Alexandra Stevens

Maurice Vaughan oh yes love The Truman Show except the bit that is most memorable for me is the ending when he walks through the door hidden in the artificial horizon. That really stayed with me, so original at the time.

That ending really stayed with me too, Alexandra Stevens. The Truman Show nails the opening and ending. And the acting in the film is phenomenal!
