According to Mark Ruffalo, you should jump ship and go indie:

I'm already indie, Karen "Kay" Ross. :)
My strategy during the strikes is write specs, learn more about screenwriting and the industry, and network.
What do I think indie filmmakers need to do to make indie films more appealing to me? Focus on telling great stories and set up interactive social media campaigns (which don't have to be huge and expensive).

For me, focusing on my own projects and meeting other like-minded folks here on Stage32 and wherever else possible! Love the focus on indie, it feels like people had started to forget about that scene and hopefully this opens up minds to more creative ideas outside the mundane, formulaic studio films!

Agree. There's no better time than now for struggling actors and writers to create their own web series on YouTube.

Issues between the creative community and the studios helped give rise to the independent film explosion of that late 1960's and 1970's. Would be awesome to see a big new chapter for indie filmmaking. There is so much talent here at Stage 32 and I know this community will be a big part of it all.

Keep my creative juices flowing! Return to those scripts of mine on the back burners and complete them. Start new projects to build up my writing portfolio. Meet with other screenwriters and review each others works and discuss notes between us. Keep doing my script consulting for my fellow writers.
Indie markets and studios have produced some fantastic work. I'm a huge fan of this effort and its results. My sincere hope is that Hollywood can learn from the indie mold and way of doing business and consistently use it going forward.

Karen "Kay" Ross I’m an indie writer, director and producer and with the WGA strike being supported by the WGGB I won’t be touching my optioned screenplay because of producer notes.
For the rest, I’m writing spec scripts so I’m unaffected by either strike. One project I’m holding on to is an animated series pilot that I’m looking to create a proof of concept for, with artists and voice talent, but I’ll have to wait until the strikes are over for that.
