College film student here who is currently working on an animated web series. In addition to working on this series though, I have a side project which I intend to turn into a short 2-5 min proof-of-concept short animation. However, for this project, i need help from people willing assist in animating it. Money is low for me due to being a college student and having to spend a lot of money on the web series, which is the main project I am working on.
This is not a job post by any means, but rather a post asking for advice on how to go about asking for volunteer help from animators and artists. I know how time consuming animation is, so I do not want to come off as seeming "ignorant" in asking for volunteer help rather than paid work.

Bob Harper is right, the best suggestion would be to ask other students who are willing to assist you with this side project. It's a good way to network and meet people who have the talents your looking for that you didn't know. In time you may find yourself hiring or being hired through those relationships. Either way production is a team sport so I would say go out and politely ask. You'll find someone eventually.

I agree with Bob Harper . Although, I would guess that other students are also busy and broke, so you do have a bit of a challenge. You might want to find some recent graduates who haven't found work yet and are looking for material to add to their reels and portfolios. In fact, when letting people know you can't pay them, emphasize that they can use whatever work they produce for their reels.
