I started reading Eragon because my son was reading it and he wanted to discuss it with me. I really did not want to read it on account that I have so many other books to get through, but I'm finding it really well done, and I actually like the author's writing style more than I like most other fantasy authors.
I hear the author wrote it when he was a teenager and as the series continues, his writing evolves. There were many instances where I can 'see' the younger author in the first book, but I'm still impressed with his writing and think that while there are a few lines that could be improved upon, it's still better than many YA books out there.
I'm about 2/3 done and will probably read Book 2 if my son pressures me, but I have so much work to do that I won't be reading fast.

I never read this series, but I remember when all of my friends did and loved it. I'll have to go back and read it someday!
