Read a Good Book Lately? : Rude - by Katie Hopkins by Kaye Bewley

Rude - by Katie Hopkins

There are a good number of people on the planet that simply do not like this woman, her views or her choice of words, indeed, what she promotes overall. But, no one can deny that she is in your face and says what she feels without fear of reprisal. Sometimes, I agree, her words can be dangerous and destructive, but I cannot help but admire her gall and determination.

On Amazon, usually the top reviews are posted first, in this instance, the '1' stars are given preference. However, when you read down the list of those who give her '5' stars, you see the number growing - and also the relief they express in her ability to be open and to express what they themselves feel unable to.

Her book doesn't hide the fact she knows she can be rude, it states that from the get-go (the title is 'Rude' after all) Inside, you're taken on a journey into her personal history which gives you an idea as to how her views and attitudes were actually carved, as well as some chapters exploring her intimate life behind those curtains. Oddly, it is quite a fascinating and, yes, enjoyable read. I laughed out loud at some things she exposed and I would love to see this taken on as a film project.

I think I will read this out of curiosity. I don’t know why a lot of people hate her, hate is a powerful emotion hardly worthy, she says what she thinks....so what?

Hi Debbie, thanks for commenting. I've never hated anyone but, I do confess to disliking Ms Hopkins before I read this book. I believed her to be some pompous stuck up human being who looked down on the rest of us. However, she's far from it and has a handle on the human experience - and empathy too. She tells (in a humorous way) how she suffered from epilepsy and how this affected her life - and her recovery from it. But she doesn't complain about it - she laughs about her own stupid decisions and inadequacies. It's so funny in some areas - particularly the bit about when she was a cleaning lady in a pub! Hope you enjoy it.

“Cleaning lady in Pub”? Kate is definitely a dark horse. I think that although a lot of people admit they dislike her, its probably a scenario of “Love To Hate”, rather than total non respect. If a man came across as she often did in Celebrity Tv people would hardly comment, but Speak The Truth and Shame The Devil Kate .....got crucified. The crime? Just being herself. (Thanks for the invite, Im in transit at present but when I reach my desktop will access network page, as mobile will not sort this).
