From No Film School <>> "This stunning montage will make you wonder why female DPs don't get more work. Have you ever heard of a woman who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Cinematography? Nah? That's because, in the entire history of the Academy Awards, not a single female cinematographer has been on the list. It's the only category for which that statement holds true—and it's not for want of eligible women producing awards-worthy work." http://nofilmschool.com/2016/08/female-cinematographers-video-essay

Who are the people who make the nominations? Who are the people who judge the so called awards? . Im currently working on a film festival where the public decides who wins the awards.

I enrolled for a cinematography course although I got awards in acting/writing because I still wanted to learn more. The sordid actuality of life intervened, the principles wife found my address.

Ha ha .......I don't need their Cinematography certificate. I'm directing actors who bare back ride wild horses in Spain Mountain. Such is the book of life, who are these teachers? And why aren't they doing it themselves?

I am excited to watch the link you posted above, but due to being on the move my wifi is too unstable to steadily connect to a film. I tried to watch it in the bar last night but the images kept stop starting. I will get back to this thread at later date. If anyone out there is going Marbella Film Festival give me a shout. You are right we definitely need more exhibits from female cinematographers.
