I build industry standard equipment and live in the middle of New Mexico desert. Not much work around here and I'm seeking any suggestions of where I can find work. My focus has been DoP work but I'm known to work everything and anything. I've even done crafty for a few commercial shoots for the experience and have even been promoted to camera car driver on the spot. I just feel like I am not where I'm suppose to be and feel like I could be doing so much more with the skills I have. I've learned to build equipment mainly to get the shots I imagined, whether it be a jib, dolly or specialty mount. Some of my equipment I've designed and built is even used by NBC studios in NY. My motto "Just get the shot!" I'm ready for the next project and a move to where I can be of service.

If you were building surf boards in the middle of New Mexico desert I'd say move to where people surf. Since you're seeking suggestions of where to find work I'd suggest the places where people make films; Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, New York.

+1 to the above advice. Don't wait for the film industry to move to your town. In addition to the above suggested cities, Nola or Shreveport, La.
Did you make the track as well?
Move to L.A. ... all the opportunity and even more competition. If you are lucky, you'll get to go back and work on location in N.M.
