Filmmaking / Directing : The Director/Talent Relationship by Geoffroy Faugerolas

The Director/Talent Relationship

Great article below from Deadline about Sinners and the creative relationship between Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler. It’s worth noting that everything they discuss circles back to character and story.

From award-winning indie films to record-breaking blockbusters and genre-defying projects, this dynamic duo seems to have the Midas touch. Could the secret to their success be a purist dedication to the craft? Has Hollywood become too reliant on gimmicks?

Quite the contrast with the Minecraft movie.

What are your thoughts?

Geoffroy Faugerolas, This was such a great read. It really reinforces how powerful a story can be when the focus stays rooted in character first. You can feel the authenticity in everything Coogler and Jordan create together, and I think that’s why their work resonates so deeply. It’s refreshing to see that level of craft and care. I’d love to see more projects that prioritize storytelling at this level. I'm seeing Sinners this weekend and I'm so excited!
