Filmhub now offers captioning

Every movie going to streaming should have accurate captions, reviewed by humans. I’ve always used REV in the past.

I got an email this week from Filmhub announcing their new captioning service, at $4 per minute.

Does anyone find this appealing? I suppose some might be tempted to keep it all in-house if they’re using Filmhub for distro, but I love REV’s interface and more competitive pricing at $1.50 per minute.

$4 a minute, likely for After Effects or AI automated speech to text? No.....

it’s probably humans at that price. Rev is humans for only $1,50 a minute. Rev also has an AI option for cheaper.

Mike Boas Having come from the captioning and transcription world in TV in my very early post days, I don't believe that Rev has actual humans doing that at that price. At the most they are proofing what the AI has come up with. Back in the 1990s production companies were paying bare minimum $75 for a 30 minute transcription done, of course, by humans.

Back when Rev was $1 a minute, I took the test to be a transcriptionist. I learned the software, did a couple jobs. I wasn’t quite fast enough for it to be worthwhile for me. It would work out that someone with my typing skills would get about $15 an hour. A faster typist could spend less time on the same amount of work, therefore get paid more per hour… it was on a pay-per-job basis.

Here’s an article describing the freelance work, pros and cons.

I'm sure they are just having rev do it and marking it up.
