More than any other festival, I think, Cannes engages with its directors and their careers in symbiotic, mutually productive ways. Narratives build over time. Directors might make a film or two and be rejected, and then, perhaps, play in Un Certain Regard before “graduating” to the C...

Times are changing.
There are digital creators who have amassed enormous audiences. As I am tethered to both TikTok and YouTube, the only problem I see is which ones to choose?
So much great entertaining and educational content that boasts of clever creativity.

If you've shot a film, got a trailer and are attending the Cannes Film Festival? Congratulations! I've spoken to a couple of people in this situation who've had some success with getting meetings but are struggling with others. But don't worry! During a film festival a sales agent has many demands o...

Stephen Folker and thank you Stephen. Thank you for that advice. It’s good to know!
I found what Ewan wrote to be the case, too. Most Sales Agents and Distributors do not want to talk to you until the second week of Cannes - Tuesday or Wednesday. But most had also left by then. There...

“Most independent filmmakers forgo hiring a unit or film publicist in pre-production. There are many reasons they do this, but the most common one is that they don’t think they have it in their budget. The truth is filmmakers can’t afford to make that mistake.” —Tamaryn Tobian (Agency Owner of Spect...

That's great that the Publicist is helping out, Geoff Hall! You're thinking about a Publicist early in the production process. I keep hearing that filmmakers should do that. "Seeing Rachel" deals with...

I've had four distro meetings this week - all different -- all interesting.

Please consider Indie Rights as well for indie film distribution. They are transparent and do an excellent job of placing feature films onto platforms and co-marketing them w/ the filmmaker. They charge 20% distro fee, but no other added costs.
Fran Harris thanks for sharing your experience with us, Fran. You might start a distribution company? For real?
Hey Everyone. I am looking to understand what feature film genres consistently sells in the US and overseas. What makes that particular set of genres sellable and why?
