I was wondering if anyone had any experience/success getting grants in order to produce your films. Would you recommend trying to find a grant writer? Does anyone know if they will work for a producer credit on the film unless it gets funding? If you did use a grant writer how much did it cost, I have found a lot of different information about grant writers.

NEA is way too competitive and rarely funds film that don't already have distribution.

I've worked with grant writers for non-profits, they are expensive. What you need are fundraising producers, who know where to look for grants and other funding sources but have more skin in the game than a hired grant writer.
Never thought of tracking down a funding producer. I just posted about this being a writer wanting to secure a grant. Thank you for helping me pivot!
Ricardo would you have a lead on how to find a fundraising producer who specializes in media?

I have found a producer who will be helping me with the finding funds as well as getting a fiscal sponsor in order to qualify for some of the grants that I am looking to apply to.

Vonti, if in the USA, check your state's arts & culture department and look up a list of filmmakers in your state. Also look in Facebook groups. You will need to have a solid pitch and be upfront about the role your are trying to fill. Good luck!
