News like this should educate potential project creators on "what could happen if you don't deliver". The project creator got off light, IMHO. He wasn't honest and "adding an extra shipping/handling charge" to generate extra funds for the project is tantamount to fraud.

Indeed. He should have known ahead of time that shipping and handling is an important part that you need to put there in the beginning. And certainly not for more money.
