Introduce Yourself : Aspiring filmmaker by Jesse Howard

Aspiring filmmaker

Hello all. I write as a hobby and hope to one day direct the screenplays, mainly low budget genre films. I'm from North Alabama and have been a film buff all my life. I do have trouble keeping my ADHD from interfering, as it is difficult to see a project thru to completion. One I have completed was entered just this year to the Austin screenplay competition so I've got my fingers crossed I could hear something back on that. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself since I am new to an actual community.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Jesse Howard! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. Nice to meet you and welcome to the community! If you'd like to learn more about myself and the Stage32 Team, we have an intro blog: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Meet-the-Stage-32-Team

Congrats on submitting your screenplay! Have you submitted it to any Stage 32 contests? https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/contests Also, you can ask for script exchanges with other members if you'd like to get notes on a draft. I often suggest getting Coverage when you do so, that way you can pull from a pool of notes instead of just one source: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=23 One of the biggest benefits of Stage 32 services is that you can also choose who reads your script from an executive actively in the industry: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=2

Of course, there are lots of free resources, too! I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read! Don't forget to add your occupation as "screenwriter" so people know how to approach you.

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!

Hi Jesse, pleased to meet you! I understand the trouble with ADHD interfering with your work. I've learned that if you find the end of your story when you're outlining your script, I have a better chance of finishing. That's, in general, how I choose which project to write next. I truly hope that helps!
