I am a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, Ca and originally from Houston, Tx. I have worked in countries around the world and shot features, commercials and music videos with talent including Rutger Hauer, Britney Spears, Anson Mount, Elliott Gould, Larry David, Milla Jovovich, Eminem, Rob Thomas, Casper Van Dien, Ice Cube and George Michael. I won an MTV VMA Moonman for Best Cinematography in a video.
My background is in fine art, which I studied for years before becoming interested in filmmaking. I cut my teeth working on low budget movies for people like Roger Corman where I learned habits and strategies for maximizing resources and conserving time that have continued to help me create the very highest quality images economically and quickly.
Thanks to my Calgary, Ab born-and-raised mother I am a dual U.S. / Canadian citizen. I am a full member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, the Visual Effects Society and the Digital Cinema Society. I am repped by Michael Kirschner at APA.
My most recent project is the feature film "A California Christmas" currently in post and releasing widely this coming holiday season. The director and I wrapped up the color grade this past week and I am so happy with both the look and content of the movie. Cannot wait to share ... very soon.
I have also been a long time mentor and supporter for aspiring and upcoming filmmakers.
I am a lifelong fan of space exploration and science fiction, a vegetarian, an animal lover, a student of history and science, a lover of the great outdoors, an appreciator of fine art and music, a musician myself and a Beatles fan! I love ghost tours, comedy shows and nature hikes. I have a feisty orange tabby cat named Julius.
