Introduce Yourself : Filmmaker. Educator. Actor. by John Goshorn

Since this is the weekend we're supposed to do it ... hi, everyone!

By day I am an educator in the film and media arts, but I have worked for stage and screen as an actor, writer, director, and producer.  Some highlights so far:

- a crowdfunded independent feature I wrote, produced, and directed called THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975598/), which earned official selections to seven established festivals and Maverick Movie Awards nominations for Directing, Lead Actress, Cinematography, and Editing.  It is currently distributed by Multicom Entertainment Group and available on Amazon Prime.

- a multimedia-enhanced stage adaptation of seven Edgar Allan Poe classics called THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH: AN EVENING OF MORBID ROMANCE AND PARANOIA, which I scripted myself, then produced and directed to sold-out audiences in Orlando, Florida in 2013.

- a micro-budget experimental narrative feature called WHEN THE SUN HITS, for which I played the lead.

I currently work as a film professor in south Georgia, and do some script consulting.  Barring an unforeseen opportunity, as a director I will be honing my craft in shorts before tackling another feature.  As a writer, I'm  interested in developing features and long-form TV.  My work tends to be dramatic, performance-driven, fairly naturalistic, and socially conscious.
