Introduce Yourself : I just keep trying by Brian Joseph Spero Jr.

I just keep trying

I've got a few ideas. Two are really good, and one I've developed into a script. But I haven't sold it yet. I'm completely focused on it for now (though I am planning to at some point turn the other idea into a teleplay - it'd be more of a series since its a long story...) But anyway with this script I'm writing now I've made leaps and bounds. I didn't just write it and say "Done." The reason I keep going with this one script is I am constantly told it IS a unique and high-concept idea. The only reason I haven't pitched in a while is I've been focused entirely on another rewrite of the script. I'm on a Version 7 now and I know the changes each Version had. It was until Version 4 that I finally knew what I was doing and since then the script only gets better. I did a High Stakes class here on Stage32 and also an online screenwriting course, The ScreenwritingU ProSeries, which did wonders for my writing skills from day one. Now I just keep using those skills and I plan to get backinto marketing Version 7 of my screenplay (I haven't marketed since an early Version 5, and Version 6 made Major changes including some taken from suggestions from script coverage here on this site). I just keep trying and won't give up on this because no matter who critiques me, they always admit the main idea for my screenplay is good! So if anyone's curious I suppose I should leave the new logline: "In order to follow his cheerleader girlfriend to away matches, a college student must become what he despises most - the Mascot." I myself am looking to break in as a screenwriter and I feel like having a great script is the way to do that!

I was pitching there for a while. I was actually in contact with Joey Tuccio, but I took a break for a few months to polish my script more. Like I said in the post I'm in a class and it ends soon, so I'll have a Version and a marketing plan, which will I'm sure include returning to pitching at Happy Writers.

Persistence is more than half the battle in this game. Definitely a marathon, not a sprint. Keep charging.

ok I'm actually working on a Version 7 at the time. I haven't put anything online since an early Version 5 and have made significant changes. Did you actually read the whole script though because (and I'm not I wouldn't change things) things that happen do quickly connect back with the story in the second scene back in the present and while I've never seen "Some like it hot", I fail to see a relation to spiderman because after the first pages Jon "gets the girl" and the whole story's more about him and Dave...who comes in on page 13 (I think it may be 15 if you have version 5 since I made some cuts to the opening). anyway I plan to keep working on a Version 7 and it already has changes from version 6 so if you can wait, I should have it done soon. I could send Version 7 as is now (still beats version 6) but if you can wait a little I have some rewriting to do still. (I don't plan to return to marketing it until Version 7's completion because I was told wait until it's ready thus why I want to finish Version 7 before letting it hit the internet)
