Introduce Yourself : Just signed up!! by Shaun Watt

Shaun Watt

Just signed up!!

Hey, everyone!!! I'm an actor who ABSOLUTELY loves the craft of story telling and movie magic, I live and breathe it. Every day I do anywhere from 1.5-3 hours of acting exercises. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when I've had the privilege of being on set. I'm a workhorse and STRONGLY believe that... if you want to work with the best, you've gotta train like the best. I apply that to my day job, as that creates work-ethic. I'm here on this platform to collaborate with like minded individuals, who have a TRUE passion, deep within their soul for making movies. As an actor, this is OUR platform to tell stories. Let's connect and make something beautiful out of an idea, looking forward to meeting you.

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Shaun Watt. Welcome to the community. What acting exercises do you do?

Shaun Watt

Maurice Vaughan My exercises will vary from week-week, so.. think of it as working out at the gym. I've always had the mindset from a young age to work on my weaknesses and turn those into my strengths. Some exercises for example - Memorization, body movement, character acting, accent training, etc.

Asmaa Jamil

Welcome and this is so fascinating. I also spend at least 1-3 hours a day for my writing. I either do research, read, or write.

Maurice Vaughan

Cool, Shaun Watt. Have you ever tried pantomime (www.stage32.com/lounge/acting/Actors-Add-Pantomime-to-Your-Skill-Set)? Or does that tie into body movement?

Shaun Watt

Maurice Vaughan Yes, it does sort of tie into body movement. I'm focusing on body movement for characters. So, diving deep into the soul of the character, and trying out different movements. I thoroughly enjoy people watching, so, you'd be surprised at how much you can pick up, just by observing.

Shaun Watt

Asmaa Jamil Thank you SO much!!! When we work hard on a day to day basis, that's when the universe provides us with opportunities. When you love to do what you do, sure, it's work, but it's not the same as a "day job". Consistency is key to success. Never stop believing in your work, YOU got this

Maurice Vaughan

Sounds great, Shaun Watt. I can see how those things can help with preparing for roles.

"I thoroughly enjoy people watching, so, you'd be surprised at how much you can pick up, just by observing." I do the same thing when I develop characters for scripts.

Jim Cushinery

Welcome. I've had a great experience here so far. Hope you do, as well.

David Lee Melton

welcome! what kind of actor are you?

Shaun Watt

Maurice Vaughan Absolutely, it's part of the process!! I'm currently working on creating a TV series, and I dive DEEP into the whole creative process. I'm living the scene from the perspectives of each character, visualizing the shots, music, everything!! I'm trying to create a story while immersing the audience into each scene.

James Maynard

Awesome. Welcome.

I just joined a few days ago, and the people here have just been incredible so far. :)

James

Shaun Watt

Jim Cushinery Thank you SO much, Jim!! It's a pleasure to e-meet you!! So far it's been nothing but positive reviews from my end of things. Let's keep in touch!!

Shaun Watt

David Lee Melton Method actor ALL THE WAY!! I LOVE immersing myself to the root of the characters soul. Rewire my mental state to have myself believe that I've lived the characters story/experiences. I simply commit to method acting because I love acting!! Pleasure to e-meet you

Maurice Vaughan

What genre(s) is your TV series, Shaun Watt?

Shaun Watt

James Maynard I'm a bit thrown off balance in regards to how welcoming this community is!! Absolute pleasure to e-meet you, James

Fran Harris

welcome Shaun Watt

Shaun Watt

Maurice Vaughan It's Thriller/Horror. Diving deep into the mindsets of the characters are taxing on the mind. Allowing the ideas to flow naturally is the way I'm going about it.

Shaun Watt

Fran Harris Thank you so much, Fran

Maurice Vaughan

Sometimes the best way to go is just letting ideas flow naturally, Shaun Watt.

"Diving deep into the mindsets of the characters are taxing on the mind." I know what you mean. I do that when I outline. It's a good idea to "jump out of" character mindsets afterwards.
