Introduce Yourself : Norwegian Screenwriter, and director by Ole-André Rønneberg

Ole-André Rønneberg

Norwegian Screenwriter, and director

Hi folks! I am a Norwegian writer and film director based in More and Romsdal (North west coast of Norway). I have mainly written, directed and produced short films (check my profile for credits), but now I am writing some feature films. My region is the perfect location for epic mountains and fjords. It is like New Zealand on steroids. Several films have been shoot in this area, like the end scene of The danish girl, Alex Garlands Ex Machina, The wave by Roar Uthaug etc. And f you want to collaborate on scripts, let me know. I have loads of ideas! Take care, and I can't wait to hear from you guys!

A pleasure to have you here. You're in great company. There are over 80,000 screenwriters on Stage 32. Check out the Screenwriting section of the Lounge when you get a chance. Always great conversations happening there.

Ole-André Rønneberg

Velkomin Ole-André , as we would say in Iceland. I love your country, it has plenty of trees, beautiful surroundings and beautiful women (opps I hope my wife doesn't read this (LOL)). Din urnordiske ven, Helgi

Ole-André Rønneberg

Thanks for the welcome committee! It is a pleasure to be here! It looks like a right place to be!

Sigurjón Helgi Kristjánsson

It sure is, They've got regular competitions for various genres in the Happy Writers section, along with regular pitch sessions, for you to pitch your script, and/or talent. I wish I had heard of this site a 'l o n g' time ago, I might have been more developed now. Then again, life has given me invaluable lessons and experience to capitalize on, so it is hard to say. I noticed, that both Iceland and Norway, have increased their tax relief for film making in their countries, from 20% to 25%, and France is up to 30%, I guess they want the business (Especially Iceland after the banks collapsed (good job their not like the Netherlands, else they would have been flooded (but that would be river banks (they are the only ones, that didn't collapse in Iceland)))).

Elisabeth Meier

Willkommen Ole-Andrè as we say in Germany. :) You see you are already surrounded by neighbors. Great to have you with us. If you are interested in collaboration feel free... All the best for your projects!

Ole-André Rønneberg

Thanks Sigurjon and Elisabeth!

Ole-André Rønneberg

Helgi, Yes, there is loads of beautiful women, and the best one is mine.=) Thanks for the tip of Happy Writer section. Will check it out! Yes, they are launching incentives and The snowman produced by Universal, and Alexander Paynes Downsizing is the two first productions to get it. But there is some hick ups, and the production companies have to apply to get the tax refund, instead of that it happens automatically. But there is many who is working to get a better solutions. Elisabeth, I'll PM you.=)

Ricky Hawthorne

Michael Priv

What is the Norwegian screenwriting scene is like? Norwegian films we see here are usually serious, kind of dark. Why is that? No comedies or action comedies? Or don't we just get any here?

Ole-André Rønneberg

Michael Priv , two years later. Very little action comedies, some comedies, but what travels from Norway is often a bit dark and serious. Now there are several WWII movies.

I don't know. It might be the climate. It affects us.
