Sparks Fly When You Least Expect Them

Greetings fellow driven creatives. Morgan Summerfield, writer/artist, very new to Stage 32. Still getting my footing. Recently first drafted a thriller in a week isolated in the Tennessee Mountains with a bear who liked my porch far too well. What kind of crazy does that say I am? Who knew a cocktail of relaxing wilderness and rushes of adrenaline could enhance creativity? Looking forward to learning, making connections, and branching out my creativity. Best wishes to you and your muse. Thank you for taking the time to ‘meet’ me. I look forward to 'meeting' some of you.

Jean Buschmann

Sounds like the perfect creativity cocktail! Me thinks your bear friend was jonesing for a role! Lol (He must've got word about the success of his kinsman in The Revenant.)

Jake

Welcome to Stage 32, Morgan!

Jean, do you think I should bottle it? I think he was jonesing for my lunch, but we'll never know for sure. As creatives we never know when that next idea will jump out and ‘bite’ us. My friends told me they had been going up there for four years and never caught a glimpse of a bear. So, I wasn’t prepared. Imagine this: Writer sitting on the connected side porch engrossed in her story. There is a scuffing then movement at the corner of house on the front side of the porch, a nose, then a head, then a very big body clear the corner. You don’t realize how big they are until they are in your personal space (and you are only 5’ tall). Brain repeating, “Stay calm. Stay calm.” Slowly, she rises out of the chair, while actively calculating an escape route. Bear takes a big sniff, grunts, turns and exits the way he came. I’m thinking the wine I’d been drinking put him off. I’ll take two bottles with me next time. One more life event to add to my character building toolbox. Wishing you many ‘cocktails’ of creativity. Have a great day.

Thanks, Aray. It was a slice of heaven then I had to come home to all the chaos. As I am sure you do, I get very involved with my characters. They are like family. I cry for them. Get mad at them. Have imaginary conversations with them. Oh, okay to say that here I guess. I don't tell normal people that. It makes them nervous. Have a 'horrifying' day with your characters.

Thank you, Jake.

Thank you, Art.

Joe Bousquin

Welcome, Morgan! I grew up in Virginia, and I know the inspirational power of the Blue Ridge Mountains! Congratulations on your week of solitude. P.S. Sprinkling a little cayenne pepper on whatever it is your ursine suitor is interested in does wonders to keep them away!

Desiree Middleton

Welcome to stage 32 Morgan. The outdoors can do a amazing things for creativity. Glad you found that out!

Charles Mallory

Welcome to Stage 32, Morgan, and congrats on drafting your thriller and keeping the bear at bay! Wishing you much success!

Morgan Summerfield

Thank you Joe. The mountains are AWESOME! I'll buy a big container of cayenne next time I go and I'll make a big hot pot of Étouffée just to be safe.

Morgan Summerfield

Yes, Desiree. I love the outdoors. All that fresh air and, at times, unexpected nature can change one's perspective.

Morgan Summerfield

Thank you, Charles.

Diana Elizabeth Jordan

Hi Morgan welcome!

Morgan Summerfield

Thank you, Diana.

Have been trying diligently to meet and comment on as many posts as possible over the last two days. If I did not 'meet' you or comment, it is not because I didn't try. I have run out of time. Feel free to contact me if you wish. I'm going dark in 3, 2, 1....

Wayne A. Bibbs

Pleasure "meeting" you, Morgan!

Tomasz Mieczkowski

Hi Morgan, soooo glad to have you here. :) The question is - did your thriller have a bear in it as well? Did it leak through from the real life? :D I see you're utilizing the site quite well. If you have any questions about all things Stage 32, don't hesitate to ask me. Keep on rocking.

Patricia Poulos
