Are there any authors or book editors that’s interested in providing their services to an aspiring author? The book has been written but looking to have someone to assist with the editing. Thanks in advance.
Francheska Hutton, I'm way too busy to take on any editorial work these days, but when I was, I got it via upwork.com. You might try looking there for an editor. You'll find a variety of experience levels and price points.
I'm an established author/editor/journalist under my pen name: Jessica Marie Baumgartner. I charge minimal rates (since I know the industry is tough). How long is the work? You can email me details at jessicamariebaumgartner@protonmail.com
Hi. I'm an editor with my own business, you can check out my website http://www.onevoiceliteraryagency.com - I'm happy to negotiate and reach a mutual agreement if my prices are outside your budget and I always give a discount to Stage 32 members, as Jessica said, it's tough out there, so happy to help. You can get in touch with me at rosalind@onevoiceliteraryagency.com
If you can get someone who's not with a literary agency, it could save you 100's of pounds/dollars... Nothing against the literary agents... just way out of most people's price brackets, especially if you're a new / self-publishing author.
David, generally I agree, but my business is solely editing, I'm actually in the process of changing the name of my company, because I originally started with doing agency work as well, but I don't do that now. so it's always worth just having a look at literary agent's websites, just to see and compare prices.
Rosalind Winton - I wasn't denigrating - I think there's absolutely a place for editors of varying levels... just the prices I've been quoted would have likely meant I'd never see a recoup of the money needed. Same goes for "professional" cover design... I got quoted £800 (mates rates too!)... I've seen someone pay more than that and got a cover they hated and thought was dreadful... with no recourse because the work had been delivered. I've taken a look at your website and for what you're offering for a manuscript critique seems very reasonable.
David. Thank you :) I try to keep everything competetive and at reasonable rates and as I said, I am flexible and I do take budgets into consideration within reason. £800 for a cover is astronomical. I recommend Lemon Creative Media, they have designed an amazing cover for a client of mine for her crime thriller, which was under £200.00. I've also been quoted very good rates from him for another project I'm working on with a client for a cover and illustrations. He's on Instagram and if you like what he does and you go to him for a quote, mention my name as a recommendation. https://www.instagram.com/lemoncreativemedia
Franklin. Yes, of course. If you send me a private message with your email address and the word count of your pilot, I'll send you a no obligation quote as a start. Thank you. It will be me that does it.

You can try looking for an editor in the Jobs section here... I found one guy who was really good, though he doesn't appear to be around any more).
