In the first place I don't think it is ideal to add effects using an editing software. How about sending your edits to After effects? Nuke? Fusion? Flame? All these are better.
You definitely won't be creating effects in editing software, but if you are wondering about workflow, with over 10 years as a professional editor who always preferred Avid, I would suggest Premiere Creative Suite. You can open Adobe After Effects (ad other Adobe products) from the timeline and it is designed for collaboration and integration. It's surprisingly streamlined. With FCP and Avid, it's still clunky.
Although Im fairly new to the whole film making area I would have to agree with the other posters. The editing software should just stay as editing, other programs can add the effects.

Yeah, try After Effects! You can actually download a thirty-day trial here: https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/aftereffects
