I think the things Ben Affleck mentioned are going to happen, Pat Alexander. I agree with him that AI can't write Shakespeare and AI can't do what actors can do in a room.

Intelligence and emotional depth have been two separate qualities forever. I have no doubt AI will end up smarter than most. But there will never be a replacement for emotional depth so I believe there will always be writers and actors and artists and some may use AI as a tool to enhance their work or, certainly, hasten thier research. WHat can I say - I believe in humanity above all.

I think that no matter what, we're always going to want stories that are different to the norm. At some point AI eats itself. It's doing new stuff now, because it's fresh. Once it's just repeating more of the same stuff, we're going to want something different. But it'll sort of be like shooting on film vs digital. It's not common, but it has its place! I do think, though, that using AI as a tool to make it faster for us to tell those unique stories, is a thing!

We have barely started to fugure out the human brain so how could we possibly build one? Could AI create some material that resonates - seems plausible at this point - but could AI make ANORA? Or MOONLIGHT, for that matter? I just don't see it happening and neither do my friends in the AI game. It's more of a tech/stock bubble - which they always need - than an existential threat IMHO. Not discounting its potential or use. I just don't believe it will ever be able to tell the most interesting, complex and compelling stories. We all must keep creating!
