Hi everyone,
I've been contacted by a Swiss company called largo.ai
They provide film analysis and predictions (sales, audience, etc) based on the AI analysing the script.
I'm very curios about it and I've been told by the company that this system is already used by big studios.
What do you think of this, have you already experimented AI and it s possibilities with a film project?
Here is their website if you want to know more: largo.ai
Thank you
Intriguing...I see it's mostly backed by European organizations....call me Euro-misanthrope but in Europe cinema even writers, directors don't know what they want, let alone the audience..
On the other hand two major cornerstones of US cinema from the beginning were adaptations and remakes (of already existing IP)...and I see it's still going on the same...even spec scripts sold become a part of ongoing franchises, for ex. spec script "Simon says" became what we know today as "Die Hard with an Vengeance", etc...
So here, challenging the AI, I'll tell you right away next big world hits gonna be: "The Batman 2", "Dune 2" and alike...
I think on principle alone I wouldn't attempt it. If you consider yourself a master screenwriter, someone who knows how to give skillful script notes yourself, then I would say try it as a matter of comparison. But if you are not used to giving or receiving notes, then I would not circumvent the human resource that is script readers. That intuition, that visceral emotion when reading and envisioning what it will look like, can never be replaced.
Ai is a fave topic of mine and love what Jasper (used to be Jarvis) does for writing. I'm suspect though because it's very Skynet and as the machine learns more and more about how/what humans respond to - the less personal opinion or creative art comes forward. Instead, all we would have is the algorithm generated Pavlovian response to image and sound. Good luck to you!
Intersting Kiril. That s how us Europeans look to you?
Alessio, I'm afraid yes...until European directors start proving me wrong...
That's so sad Kiril, I'm sorry for you. Maybe you can ask the AI to suggest you some, as everybody here is working hard and don't have time to prove you anything. And good luck!!

AI for forecasting like this is pretty meaningless for scripts. You can put all the selling, marketable, and commercial things in a script based on AI data, and an audience will not see it.

Maybe AI software should be used to hiring new executives in charge? Where is the next Kevin Feige, Jennifer Lee?

Alessio Bergamo If they actually told you that they can provide (actual meaningful) sales or audience predictions based on a script - what they have really said, in different words, is "we haven't a clue how scripts get translated to screen, and know little else about the market either."
