Creative Writing Prompts

Hi all, trying to help expand my creative side with being able to write short scripts. Any resources, websites, or book recommendations? I'd greatly appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!

Resources? The script format is the same for a short as a FL - Dave Trottier's book The Screenwriter's Bible is about a good as you're likely to find. Start with a theme and develop a 10 - 12 page script around it. Make sure it's a whole story (beginning, middle & end). Just doing it is the best resource you will come across. An example: Overcoming grief to move on with life - a mother loses her only child to school shooting; how does she move on with her life?...Just an idea; but you get the point.

For shorts I try to get a single idea across to the audience. You don’t have enough space for much else. So pick a idea like “power makes people bad” and explore that.

I would practice writing stuff that can be done super low budget. Then you can do them yourself. I learnt more behind the camera than behind the keyboard.
