Hi guys, a budding writer and a new member here.
My question is how would I format or better yet incorporate texts/messages and/or tweets in my screenplay? I am fairly new at writing screenplays and I'm writing my second one atm which is very socially active and so I wanted to know how to write them in.
Examples would be preferred.
Texts that show up on screen like in Jane the Virgin or on a character's phone, both variations' explanation would be highly appreciated.

Here is the link to how David Trottier, the author of The Screenwriter's Bible, does it. I think John August does it a little bit differently - you might want to check out his website, too (johnaugust.com) .

Bill Costantini Thanks, that does help a lot. From that description, I am assuming it should be the same way for Tweets as well so thanks again.

I googled this not too long ago, and the way you're supposed to do it is:
CHARACTER NAME (TEXT)
Italic Dialogue Text Here
Here is the resource I used: https://screenwriting.io/how-should-you-handle-text-messages-or-instant-...
Best of luck! :)

ON THE SCREEN
The message reads:
"blah, blah, blah."
Additionally - If text is to appear on-screen as a SUPER DOES - UK formatting (Sherlock) allows in for:
A text:
<BAKER STREET. COME AT ONCE.>
House of Cards (eventually) formats similarly. But without .
Again for on-screen - SUPER - I have also viewed (though can't recall where) the formatting-
A TEXT MESSAGE: SUPER:
"Blah, blah, blah."
Hope these helped instead of confused.
