I wrote a minimalist half page Screenplay called "Ten Seconds"

I had written a 26-30 hour epic saga and for my sanity I needed to go in the opposite direction so I tried to suggest a larger story with as little as possible. Here is the entire thing. Half-a-page screenplay.

INT. DARK WATERS - DAY

A drowning MAN has reached his final breath. Oxygen bubbles

escape toward promising light.

He surfaces.

EXT. A FIELD OF GRASS AND BLOOD - DAY

Through closed eyes, he sees butterflies all around him.

Something nips at the back of his hand.

A creature. An insect. A lone butterfly dances on his hand.

His eyes open to greet the light.

He tracks the butterfly’s flight toward the squad of soldiers

facing him.

His hands are tied. To a pole.

A wounded and weary CAPTAIN struggles to hold up a sword.

Rifles are lifted.

The man can only enjoy humanity’s final words.

CAPTAIN

-- for desertion.

Ready.

Aim.

That's a great idea, Daniel Goudreau! It doesn't take a lot of time to write a half-a-page script, it's fun, and it can help writers get into the writing flow if they're stuck on projects. And what a cliffhanger!

Ewan Dunbar

Great way to challenge yourself!

Lindbergh E Hollingsworth

I like it. Short and simple. Similar to the short French film that was aired on the original Twilight Zone, "An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge."

Lindbergh E Hollingsworth I'll have to see that one again. I also write one pagers, each was a different character on Venice Beach trying to talk over the phone fast on their last dime while the operator is counting down the seconds until the call ends if they don't put in more money. Comical but sometimes strangely sad and compelling. One page vignettes. If anyone wants to see one I can post one here since one page is pretty small.

Ewan Dunbar I am so close to taking the Pitch Deck class. However, I need to learn how to make a great Pitch Deck for Features as opposed to TV Series. Is the info transferable or should I be looking for Feature Pitch Deck creation specifically?

Ewan Dunbar

Some of it is but it also depends on what you want your pitch deck to do. One aimed for a streamer or distributor will be different to one aimed at raising finance. There are some other classes that are targeted more at these areas and for features.

Daniel Goudreau

Ewan Dunbar No worries, I bought the 4 part class. I'm going through it now. Instead of a TV series I may tailor my pitch for something even tougher to sell, a movie series for TV. I'll probably get back to you via the classes lounge or use your pitch services in the future when I am ready. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
