Completely wrong. This is damaging to new writers and destructive. There are places like: http://gointothestory.blcklst.com/free-script-downloads/http://www.dailyscript.com/movie.htmlhttp://www.simplyscripts.com/http://www.imsdb.com/http://sfy.ru/http://www.joblo.com/movie-screenplays-scripts/http://www.screenplaydb.com/film/all/http://www.script-o-rama.com/ Drews (the last one) are all actual screenplays, except for a separate section which contains transcripts. I have not checked every single script on these sites, but can see no reason why they would not have the actual screenplays. The first one, Go Into The Story has 80 pdfs of actual screenplays released by studios during Oscar season. Now, here's the caveat: the scripts you will find online are most likely the production drafts not the sales drafts. They often have shots broken out and other things that did not exist in the sales drafts. Lately, studio lawyers have been clamping down on some of the websites and "script traders" when they circulate early drafts or scripts for films which have not been released. Due to a bunch of terrible "reviews" of the script for GREEN LANTERN before the film was released the studio began going after websites where "script traders" hang out and putting an end to it (well, an end to the public version of script trading). Um, GREEN LANTERN came out afterwards and sucked. All of the script reviews were right! Recently QT said he was not going to make HATEFUL 8 because the script had been leaked... but it is now in pre production. So finding new scripts is more difficult. But thanks to the business being all PDF now and no longer dealing with paper, there are a bunch of hot new scripts out there still... just underground where you have to know someone to read them.
Yeah, those are all of the scripts released by the studios during Oscar season to try to get people to vote for them... so you are getting what the studios think are the best scripts.
To add to wealth of detail from William, if you join a site like the tracking board (membership fee involved) you can access a wide variety of material and request something particular from industry peers.
