Looking to work with/hire a professional screenwriter

Hello everyone, my name is Josh Booker. I am a 22 year old landscaper/fire fighting graduate/hockey coach. I specifically wanted to list all those to highlight that I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to screenwriting, creating a tv show bible ect. I also feel like I would be cutting my idea I have short if I did it myself as I believe there are so many talented people I could work with to help make my idea reach its full potential. I have a Tv show idea that I have been working on the past 2 years and am really frustrated as I have no idea how to take the next steps with it. I genuinely believe in my heart this idea could be the next big thing with the help of a screenwriter to start by putting this idea onto paper. If anyone sees this and it strikes even the littlest of curiosity within you I encourage you to respond and thoroughly appreciate any help I can receive. Thanks very much and look forward to hearing from anyone willing to hear more about the idea.

Brian Herskowitz

Hi Josh, is this a reality show or a fictional series?

Ed Tasca

Josh, the next steps for you are big ones. Especially a completed bible. I've done a couple of them. Not sure what you have, but if you have a treatment of some kind to show, I'd take a look at it.

Josh Booker

Brian Herskowitz hey Brian, it is a fictional series

Josh Booker

Ed Tasca hey Ed, thank you for the message. I do have documents overlaying the idea and would love to share.

Dean Love

Hey Josh, I am a filmmaker/writer with three Emmy Awards. I was Producer and Head Writer on first season The FBI Files and have done about 200 other programs. I'd be willing to look at what you've got, but no promises other than that to start with, many people believe they have the next great series, most unfortunately don't. I'm not being an ass, just don't want to be unrealistic or over promise. Your call. I wish you all the best either way. .

Roy Phillips

Hi, Josh. Do you have an written outline of your idea?

Sallie Olson

I love how supportive and helpful people are here at Stage32!

Gary Keyes

Hey Josh! You've made the first best step by joining Stage 32. Many people here come from both sides of the fence (experienced pros and those just starting), so you're going a ton of help with whatever you to become a TV screenwriter, producer, and maybe even director (you never know). Good luck, bro!

Claudia Hoag McGarry

I can help you.

Samuel Morney

Hey Josh, I came across your post and wanted to show my support. I'm mainly focused on features at the moment, but I will hopefully be pivoting to television sometime this year. I am sure you will be able to find some amazing writers here on Stage 32 who can help you bring your vision to life. I'm not sure what your show is about, but you had me at landscaper/fire fighting graduate/hockey coach. I definitely watch that show. I imagine Ted Lasso meets Fire Country! Good luck brother!

Pamela Jaye Smith

Wishing you all the best, Josh. Your background certainly makes you seem a really interesting person others would like to work with. Stage 32 has so many very talented creatives and I do hope you soon find just the perfect placing for you and your story. Good luck!

Josh Booker

Dean Love hey Dean, would love to talk more about it.

Josh Booker

Claudia Hoag McGarry hey Claudia, awesome I sent you a network request

Dragos Geicu

Hi Josh, I am a screenwriter with 3 years of experience, I would be happy to help.

Geoff Hall

Josh Booker Hi Josh. I’m really happy that the community here has responded to your post, with generosity. May I ask what the genre of this show is, please?

Andry Giza

I didn't get into writing books or screenplays. However, I have an interesting real life story to narrate that took place over nearly four decades. It is about the life of a rich woman whose life is ruined after a white marriage with a gay man.

I am looking for someone who is interested in writing the story into a book or screenplay. I can briefly write the story to anyone who is interested. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Marcel Nault Jr.

Hey Josh!

There are plenty of resources online (and offline) to help you as a novice screenwriter. My personal recommendations:

- Film Courage on YouTube: Tons of interviews from people in the industry that clarify the ins and outs of the screenwriting business, whether it's character development, archetypes, plot, writing as a staff writer for a TV series, writing your pilot for the first time, etc.

- Screenwriting from the Soul: Letters to an Aspiring Screenwriter Book by Richard J. Krevolin (1998): A parodic, yet insightful take on the world of screenwriting.

- The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler (1995): The template for every storyteller out there. The skeleton, the map of storytelling itself.

- Story by Robert McKee (1997): An important book if you want to master the story structure and its details to a tee.

- Coverfly: If you want your work discovered and being reviewed by peers, you should subscribe to this website. It's free. http://coverfly.com/

Hey Marcel! Great suggestions! The first book I picked up was Save The Cat and thank God, 'cause every other one got increasingly more complex, lol. Story by Robert McKee, I'm still trying to understand that one, lol. But I also love Screenplay by Syd Field. The Writer's Journey is one of my favorites! I also think that The Screenwriter's Bible is a must have!
