Screenwriting : Opinions are a dime a dozen. Success kills all that! by Stephen Foster

Stephen Foster

Opinions are a dime a dozen. Success kills all that!

When I first posted my logline & synopsis for My Missing Year on here a few people took jabs at it and offered me this advice and that opinion, and I almost took it back. ALMOST lost faith, but I remember my new rule: NO OPINION trumps MINE without a CHECK!

I also did some research on the main loud-mouth and he was trying to sell me a service. NO! NO! NO!

I am happy to report my script has now won 2 awards and has placed in a screenplay contest!

"My Missing Year" won the Jury Award at Nova Film Festival, won Best unproduced script at Fusion International Film Festivals. Was semi-finalist in Table Read My Screenplay contest. Nominated for best Drama at Big Bear Film Summit.

LOGLINE: A Southern, dysfunctional, family dramedy where a socially awkward, 11-year-old boy is forced to live in the Mason’s home for widows and orphans, after his mother gets dumped by her second loser husband.

Thank you for letting me share that and let that be a warning to those who jump on other people's work! Don't DO IT unless they ASK!

Great work, Stephen! Stick to your gut, and most of the time, it will beat any insight you can get from any other person.
