Hello screenwriting family!
I have to take a second to talk about The Writer's Room. I joined only 3 months ago and oh.my.goodness. I cannot BELIEVE how much value we get by being in there!
Last month was the first time I attended The Coverage Report (where one member's script is chosen to be covered by the rest of us) and it was so helpful to break down another person's script. To be able to really dive into a script in its initial stages and provide feedback, plus learn to verbally give that feedback, is invaluable. Not only did it give me a new skill, but it also helped me to see the flaws in my own writing.
Then this month (last week) I was in the hot seat with my own script. The feedback was so valuable and action-oriented and the written coverage gave me specifics to where my script was lacking. It was encouraging and gave me clarity for the next steps in revisions. It was much more than I ever expected.
The Coverage Report is gold!! Thank you SO MUCH to Lit Kilpatrick and Kay Ross for their support in the Coverage Report group!
So if you're ever on the fence about whether or not to join The Writer's Room, YES! You need to invest in yourself! The Coverage Report is just one of the many opportunities for learning that we have in there.
