I possess a few books of prompts, a card game, and books filled with writing challenges, all of which are enjoyable and effective in igniting my creative spark. Once these sparks are ignited, it becomes simpler to return to the primary project. Having some enjoyable ideas to experiment with later is beneficial.
Having fun relaxes the mind and opens it to creative stimulation, which is often what is needed. Sometimes one is trying too hard. If you let it go for a bit and turn to something else, "it will come."
That fun and relaxed state can be found in nature, in another feature, in a book, in a game, or in an outing.
Put that thing that has your mind as arid as a desert yearning to be quenched aside for a bit and observe life; take along a notepad. Let the ideas come to you.

You're right, Renae Richardson (Sometimes one is trying too hard. If you let it go for a bit and turn to something else, "it will come."). That's happened to me a lot. I like the ways you deal with writer’s block! I like the idea of using books of prompts, a card game, and books filled with writing challenges. I found prompts online, but I didn't know about these things. I'll have to check them out, especially the game. Thanks for the idea.
