Anything Goes : Time for me to step aside by Doug Nelson

Time for me to step aside

It appears to me that this forum has degraded into an elementary school sand box type environment. New threads are regularly fraught with pointless conflict that serve no one. Since I have nothing positive to offer in that sort of environs, it's probably best if I just blow this Popsicle stand; at least for awhile. I'll continue to monitor the site but try my very best to refrain from offering any comments.

Dan Guardino

Doug. Why not just skip the posts that you don't like because there are a lot of good ones and I am sure some people benefit from your comments.

Shawn Speake

I absolutely agree with Dan Guardino ... hope to see you around, Doug Nelson

Craig D Griffiths

Doug, start threads. There is a person I am choosing to ignore. Try that.

T.L. Davis

The problem is, Doug, if all the people who have something valuable to contribute feel that way (and trust me, I know exactly how you feel) and act on it, who does it leave some of us newer users to deal with? With them and not you.

Anthony Moore

Sorry to see you go Doug. I've always rather enjoyed your sharp wit and no nonsense words of wisdom.

Jim Boston

Doug, you've added so very much to Stage 32.

Going to miss your insight and inputs...big time.

Still, in what you do in the future, all the VERY BEST to you! Thanks for being a large part of Stage 32!

Craig D Griffiths

Zorrawa Emily Ann Jefferson things are repeated as new people appear. It is hard to search previous threads.

I may be a person upsetting Doug, this I am unsure about.

Lately I have decided to push back against untruths and misleading information presented as experience. This may have introduced some hostile vibes.

Kaye Bewley

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Will have to watch out. But please don't leave. if you're one of the 'reasonable' voices, surely it's best to stick with it. Persist. See it through. Help all of us others not be 'left to the lions'... so to speak. Each good person who contributes, brings a little more 'candle light' to the place. Therefore, the more little candles we have, the less darkness there will be. Please stay? Kx

Doug Nelson

Craig - no, you're not.

Debbie Croysdale

As Screenwriters we try to write about life, or rise above it and invent a different world altogether. The sad fact is that the screenwriting lounge is not "Inoculated" against the bad that life throws, its just the same risk of hurt as anywhere we go. Do not bow out. Claim your turf fellow Artists. Bad seed is in the whole Ether, coffee shops, workplace, dance clubs etc etc.

Cut out the Dross. Give them no attention or energy. Keep the moral of the thread.

Craig D Griffiths

Doug Nelson glad to hear it. If you take a break (I do), go teach. You like sharing knowledge. For an educator (like my brother in-law) teaching is a instant shot of energy and joy. This may be the tonic you need.

Phil Clarke

Wise words written by those above and I second all of them.

Dan Guardino

Doug. I am here to help people when I can and I know that is your goal as well. Don't let a few bad apples keep you from doing what you like to do.

CJ Walley

As a community, we've been through some tough times. We'll get through this and hopefully you'll be still there with us, Doug.

Doug Nelson

Thanx C.J. - I'll be here reading. If I can't stand it, I may make a comment if so moved.

Jim Boston

Doug, I hope you change your mind, too.

Main thing is: As long as you do what you feel is best for you, you've got my support.

JD Hartman

S32 could be fodder for the typical reality series as so many of the members have anything but real experience. At least on the production side of filmmaking.....
