Natron: Open Source VFX Digital Compositor

I want to share an Open Source compositing application that looks like The Foundry Nuke Compositor be developed in France. It runs on Mac, PC and Linux. The webpage address is http://natron.inria.fr. Version 1 should be released sometime this week. The name of the app is called "Natron". IF you are familiar with Nuke, then you will feel at home in the is app.

Geoffrey Duch

Hey thanks for sharing Omar!

Omar Brown

Not a problem Duch

Richard Cave

looks cool, when they get 3d compositing going will be on board like a shot.

Omar Brown

Spread the word about Natron to get more users. This will help springboard more development.

Geoffrey Duch

Done, I looked into it, it's very promising but I can't use it in production right now. It doesn't fit well into my pipeline since it lacks 3D & deep compositing.

Omar Brown

It will have Deep Compositing in version 2. The 3D environment will come later or have someway to use blender for the 3d part and file export.

Blake Senftner

This is my first hearing of Natron. As a Shake diehard, this looks great!

Omar Brown

Wait. Shake 4.1 can run on Maverick or are you stick using 9 or Mountain Lion.

Blake Senftner

Really? I've been all sad not using Shake on my Maverick. This is great news!
