Amazon & Lionsgate Strike UK Content Deal

Well, here’s another coming together and a streamer widening its market position.

The article tells us:

“Lionsgate+ subscribers who joined via Prime Video Channels in the UK will now get access to the MGM service beginning in April. Later in May, the MGM service will be rebranded to MGM+ in the UK to align with the recent rebrand that occurred in Europe, Latin America, and the U.S. MGM+ is now available in 31 countries and is one of the most subscribed Prime Video Channels globally, according to Amazon. In the U.S., the streamer formally known as Epix rebranded to MGM+ just over a year ago.”

It seems to be the season for rebranding and streamers creating greater access to content, around the globe.

If you are in the UK, does this news excite you? I’m hoping the market will expand and call for more content. How about you? Is this a good development for UK Producers?

Hi Geoff Hall - I can't speak for UK producers but I know that MGM+ is hearing pitches here in the US. A producer I know recently pitched them something.

I think more companies are gonna use pluses in their titles, Geoff Hall. I think the pluses help viewers identify streamers.

Thanks for sharing Geoff Hall - The consolidation is remarkable, curious to see where it all ends up. Thanks for sharing.
