Oh my, another US streaming service for subscribers to choose. What do you think of the content they’re offering?
Kino Lorber president and CEO Richard Lorber stated, “I’m excited about Kino Film Collection as a destination for our newest films fresh from festivals and theaters, as well as newly launched restorations of classics and curated selections from our vast library, many streaming for the first time.”

I might subscribe and check out the Kino Film Collection, Geoff Hall. I have Prime Video, so the add-on is convenient.

Mark Deuce thanks Mark. Are you tempted to subscribe?

Maurice Vaughan we have Prime Video too, but I’m not sure about subscribing to another streamer. All the classic films they mention, I have on DVD.

I'm trying to get rid of the one or two of the streamers I already have, Geoff Hall .

I'd rather have physical media, Geoff Hall.

Maurice Vaughan me too, Maurice. I’d rather own it and not ‘buy it’ just to gain access to it via a streamer. Plus there’s the extras you get with the likes of these historical/classical films, with essays and BTS photography. I have around 350 DVDs and need extra storage space for them. Jeanette is not too impressed!

Leonardo Ramirez I know what you mean, Leonardo. As much as I’d love to subscribe to this, it’s the extra outlay at a time when money is tight already. We have Netflix, a family package with my son, and Prime, courtesy of my daughter. We’re loving Cold Case at the moment and are on series 6 of 7. Loving Lilly Rush!

What bothers me is streamers can delete movies and shows that people buy, Geoff Hall, and I'm not sure if people get refunds when that happens.

I've had that happen on Prime, Maurice Vaughan. Bought a movie and not too longer after, it disappeared. Then recently, I read an article with a fine print clarification from Amazon itself stating that we don't buy these movies, we borrow them.

Wow, Leonardo Ramirez! Borrow? Great thing I only rent through streaming.

Yeah Maurice Vaughan . I wish I had a screenshot of it. But after our movie disappeared, it wasn't hard to believe.

Leonardo Ramirez yes, Leonardo. I’ve heard that too, hence the size of my DVD collection! It’s just a con, because we don’t actually own it.

Maurice Vaughan hi Maurice, yeah, unless we buy it and it’s then put on our own media drive, then it really isn’t ours.

It's physical media for me too Geoff Hall. My collection is a little bigger. I have 742 DVD's of single movies, 200 TV Series DVD's, and 278 animation DVD's. Streamers remove shows.

Martin Reese ooh, Martin, you’ve even classified and categorised them! That’s some kind of dedication. I couldn’t fit 742 DVDs into my home! Although I must admit to cataloguing them on an Excel Spreadsheet!

Oh yeah Geoff Hall. My collection is definitely catalogued in Excel. My DVD's are on book shelves/DVD shelves in my basement/man cave and my upstairs office.

Martin Reese I long for the day when the storage problem for my (mini) collection is solved and I can expand it further. Here's to progress in 2024. I have over 300 live-action films and anime, plus over 50 TV shows, the favourite being the X-Files box-set with both films. Thank you Chris Carter.

The rise of niche streamers will continue. Some will make it. Some won't. But I think we're going to see many attempts for years to come. The Lorber family has been in film distribution for a long time and I'm a crazy cinephile so I'm excited to review the full extent of their offering.
