In 2012, current owner and President Nicholas M. Puetz was on the final stretch to graduation at Columbia College in Chicago. Nick reached out to a few of his buddies in hopes of creating a final film for his Digital Cinema course. John Xydis and Dallas McGee, who are now co-owners of Pink Hippo, were eager to jump on the project. The third was writer/director Jake Groves, who had a script entitled Silverware. Combining a shoestring budget, lighting equipment from Columbia College, and the 5D MKll that Nick and John had purchased, the film was shot over four straight night shoots. After unburying a hard drive years later, they decided to color it and add an original score. Pink Hippo added its refined flavor and we are finally proud to present Silverware, the first project Nick, John, and Dallas ever collaborated on.
