Azzan, a tortured missing-persons detective in the year 2247, has been summoned by the woman he once loved in order to find her missing husband. His name is Adrien Rousseau, the renowned refugee, engineer, and social advocate of Sky City Haya, humanity's first floating city. The city is fast approaching its 20th anniversary celebrations as well as a historic initiative to build more sky cities across the world. But there’s trouble in paradise. Rousseau’s disappearance has upended city life as the city’s first major scandal. Having spent the last two decades hating Rousseau for taking the woman he loved, Azzan must put his feelings aside as he traverses the dystopian world in search of deported conspirators charged with Rousseau’s disappearance. Before being scapegoated for Rousseau’s disappearance, they helped him uncover a massive conspiracy. However, their accounts differ. With each new account, Azzan’s scathing view of Rousseau begins to change, while we explore Sky City Haya’s history, culture, and way of life. Gradually we reveal a secret. Thousands of refugees’ lives hang in the balance, and Rousseau’s untold story is their only hope.
