Here is my entry to the Stargirl competition.I began this score by writing an individual theme for Stargirl, S.T.R.I.P.E, and Icicle. For S.T.R.I.P.E I decided to write an old school hero theme and I added some junk yard percussion and synth brass sounds. The main theme is played on big brass and solo woodwinds run through a distortion unit to portray the robotic nature of his suit. Stargirl's theme is a sweeping orchestral motif utilising the airiness of the high strings. I also added a manipulated audio recording of Kepler's Star (downloaded from NASA's website). For Icicle I chose to play the main theme on a Glockenspiel for that cold and harsh sound. I also used a flute and piccolo that I put through a delay unit. All that was left to do was to piece each theme together and find the balance between action, drama, and tension.
