Francis LaLonde's Photo Bounty II in the Parade of Sail (2010), the official entrance of the Tall Ship fleet to start the Tall Ships Celebration in Bay City (Bay County), Michigan, US. Here, the ship is passing through Independence Bridge (a bascule bridge or drawbridge), heading up the Saginaw River towards Bay City. The ceremony is called Parade of Sail, but this day (and during the entire festival) there was very little wind. Therefore the ships used their onboard engines. Otherwise, the temperature was excellent during their stay. This photograph was taken from the Edward M. Golson Boat Launch and Nature Area, just up river from Independence Bridge. Bounty II was a reconstruction of the original HMS Bounty. Bounty II (popularly, though incorrectly, called HMS Bounty) was built in 1960, and sank in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy, with the loss of two crew members. She was a full-rigged / fully rigged ship. She was originally built for the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty. Following that, she was used for promotion and entertainment, and appeared in the 1990 film Treasure Island. After suffering lack of maintenance, she was restored in 2002. Bounty II was then again used for entertainment and promotions. She also appeared in Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, and even in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. #1097265249108632245
