Screenwriting : I need an opinion, please. by Sarah Walker

I need an opinion, please.

Three quarters of the way through my script, my character learns that she isn't who she think she is. Should I change her name? At the moment, I've only changed her name in the dialogue - everywhere else, character name and action lines, I've kept her name the same for simplicity. Or, should I reintroduce the character? e.g. Lucy realizes she is KAREN. Thanks

I feel like I have seen it where I'm the scene description there is a blurb where they say "x will now be known as z."

Pierre Langenegger

She's known as Karen and delivers dialogue as Karen up until the three-quarter mark but to suddenly change her dialogue, as being delivered from Lucy, will only cause confusion. Why not use the dialogue name of LUCY/KAREN from that point on?

Thanks! :)

Karl Lareine

I agree with Pierre, use LUCY/KAREN!
