I am currently in 7 local bands playing bass guitar. I have 2 students learning bass guitar. Also my original solo bass guitar music and my original bass and drum music. Could someone please tell me why I am still fighting to pay bills and on the verge of homelessness?

James, maybe your fees are too low? Maybe playing at a local wedding or engagement party once a week will up the $$ ante? (Note: I am not a musician and I know zero about what to charge for music lessons.)

I understand (to some degree). I had to give up teaching piano lessons because students would stop and start and forget to pay. Playing for events isn't very consistent either. Wish you luck--something will turn up and things will get better!
