This exercise is simple, and you can use it for script ideas, scene ideas, developing characters, etc. When you come up with a script idea, scene idea, etc., go in the opposite direction with it.
Here’s some examples:
– If you think of a script idea about a heroic cop saving the day, change it to an idea about a cowardly criminal saving the day.
– Change your serious fist fight scene to a hilarious word fight.
– Your villain is a ruthless live wire. Change her to a caring, calm villain who’s conflicted about the things she does.
Do this exercise and see where it goes.

Change your serious fist fight scene to a romantic scene where everything goes wrong. The villain is not ruthless but a blackmailed honest person.

I like those, Göran Johansson, especially "The villain is not ruthless but a blackmailed honest person"! It'd be a great twist in a movie/show!
