Hello, my name is Elizabeth and I am new to Stage32. Ever since I was little I would get lost in my vivid imagination and daydreams. When I started high school I began writing those musings down and regaled my friends with the stories that came from my dreams and other inspirations. After graduation life happened and my aspirations took a back seat, but never went away. Now I am finally in a place where the passion has returned in full force, so I took a screenwriting class last semester. My previous method of storytelling was fiction novels, but now I enjoy both forms, and I want to share with others. I hope that I can cause others to get lost in a world I created the same way movies always have for me. Just wanted to say "hi", and I look forward to talking to other kindred spirits.

When do you guys find the time to write? I have a full time job and two boys under the age of ten. I am taking a break from school this semester...I am so tired by the end of the day. Where do you find your inspiration?
If you are tired at the end of the day, then write for 40 mins first thing in the morning. You can accomplish a lot in 40 mins if you do it every day.

I'm similar Elizabeth, but with one extra child, I've cut sleeping down to 4 hours a night ;-) On a more serious note (though the sleeping is accurate), since the new year I have set myself the following goal. 2 pages a day and 1 new idea, I find it great motivtor and am actually achieving nearer 4 pages per day. To do this I've implemented the following changes. 1) Got a keyboard for my iPad and iPhone, I can now write anywhere that I get 5 minutes. 2) If as a family we are watching TV and it's something I don't like I put headphones on and write whilst it's on. Only a couple of changes but they are certainly heping As LindaAnn says/implies, find a time tht works, even if it's a limited window and write.

Great to have you onboard, Elizabeth. When it comes to finding time to write there's two things that work for me. Firstly, I have the facility to take notes at any time via my computer or phone as they share the same notes system (Evernote). I find getting thoughts out my head really helps me come up with new ones. Secondly, I work with what's called a scriptment which is one document where I add all my scenes, beats, and pieces of dialogue which helps me see how much I'm progressing but it also very easy to make significant story or character changes to.

Great suggestions from my colleagues, Anthony and CJ. I know that being a working Mom with 2 children AND a job outside the home must be a challenge --- but you must shape your life to fit your new goal (writing) _vs_ seeing if you have any time left to write. I have never owned a TV and I dropped out of Facebook yrs ago -- two colossal ways that will erode precious writing time. You must trade off, Elizabeth, or else WRITING will always be "over the rainbow." Good luck to you.
