Good morning, My name is Floyd Marshall Jr, CEO of Gazelle Films and founder of the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards, the first award show for indie filmmakers in Philadelphia. Been in the business a little over ten years. I've produced two stage plays, four films, written screenplays and basically just looking to remain busy, relevant, and an asset to others. I'm always looking to learn new ways of doing things, always open to new ideas and collaborations. It's a relationship business and I'm looking forward to building great relationships first which will hopefully segway into phenomenal projects. My award website is http://www.philadelphiaindependentfilmawards.com You can visit just to see what it is we're doing. And if you're a filmmaker in Philadelphia with an awesome film we'd love for you to submit it and hopefully we'll see you walking to the podium to receive best picture or actor honors. Pleasure seeing all of you and good luck in all your endeavors, present and future ones.

Hello, Floyd. Great to meet you. I'm from Philly, too! I'm a screenwriter, storyteller, actor, and fiddler. Looked at your website. Thanks for inspiring the filmmakers! One screenplay I have has won 6 awards now, (3 finalists, 2 semi's and has gotten great write-ups from the Blacklist and Austin Film Festival). I hear the same story from Hollywood. No one will do it--female protagonist, no car chase or superhero. I've been advised to do it myself, but a period piece is costly. I've been advised to trim the script to get around that. Hate to give up the horses and carriages though! It's set in 1872, based on a true story about a woman who ran for President! Again, great to meet you. Your work is impressive!

Holy smokes, Monique!! What are the odds that we lived on the same street? Now, how about the house? I lived at 6242 Webster.

omg... Ill make the odds a little smaller, Kate. I live at 6243 Carpenter. We were literally 2 block apart on opposite sides of the street. I was on 61st and Webster.

Hello Floyd, I am from Philly too originally, but have been in LA a little over 2 years now. I am also new to Stage 32, it is great what you are doing for locals. A lot of talent comes out of our city. I am finishing a project to be submitted to a producer myself, fingers crossed!! Would love to connect, collaborate, etc. I know some very talented actors male and female if you need anyone for your upcoming projects. Good luck to us all!!!

Hi Floyd, Thanks for the wonderful post. Is this a contest for just finished films, or for finished screenplays as well? Is there an entry fee? I didn't see information on the site posted. Is this for local artists only? I lived in Philadelphia when I was a kid.

Hi Merry thanks for reaching out. The award show is for finished films. We do have a category for best screenplay but I think the judges will choosing that from the nominated films. There is a submission fee. If you click on the website and scroll to the bottom there's a bottom to film freeway which take you to the site. Now we are only accepting films from the Tri State area and New York. Or films with a Philadelphia connection. At least 50% shot here or cast and or crew from the area.

Excited to announce a major change to our award show. We have decided to open up submissions domestically and internationally. Philadelphia stands for freedom, independence stands for doing it your way, not the studio way. We don't want to exclude or inhibit free thinking filmmakers everywhere so instead we're welcoming all of you. Good luck and thank you.

Hi Floyd great to meet u! I was just in Philly last wknd doing a filmed feature table read. A huge congratulations on creating the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards, it rocks and gives an authentic voice to Philly's best. Keep on keeping on!
Awesome.....will be in.contact..have two short films now...
Welcome to the network. You have many great accomplishments, congratulation!
Thanks for opening the PIFA to us non-Philadelphians. I just optioned a script for a short paranormal comedy set here in SW Florida that I think will be perfect. We're segueing from development into pre-production now, and plan to start shooting June 1. Plan to wrap by the end of July, and finish post in time for your late deadline. We have a Director and most of the cast and crew attached, already, as well as locations scouted. Now working on promotion, and product placement deals to keep costs down. We'll distribute through VOD after PIFA. Anybody interested in buying in for Co-Producer credit will be welcome. Contact me via email at cgmasi@cgmasi.com
